Contact information management with .tel domain

Since 24th March 2009 the new top level domain (TLD) ".tel" is available for registration at telnic and other registrars. This domain differs fundamentally from other existing top level domains, which use the DNS (domain name system) to simply transform a request into a IP address. This domains are mostly used for websites. The .tel domain, however, stores encrypted contact information in the DNS, e,g, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, location data, websites, IDs for VoIP, instant messengers or social networks.
These are the main advantages for contact information management with .tel:
 
  • Central management and release of contact information, which is available at my-name.tel
  • Very fast loading times on any device, thanks to small DNS data transfer
  • Additionally indexing in search engines, for being found more easily 
  • Simple way of contacting, e.g. dialing a phone number via mouse click
  • No more efforts on own contact websites, .tel offers its own HTML view depending on the device
  • Possibility to embed into websites to keep contact information up-to-date, e.g. in an imprint
